I wish I had a picture

Back in the sixth grade my mom forced me to join an after school program where I would be able to meet new people and expand on my art skills. I walked in the classroom that fall day, all shy and big eyed, feeling like such an outcast. I sat at a table where I didn't have to talk to a single person, hoping that if I went home that day and complained to my mom about how lonely I was I wouldn't have to go again. That is when this short, blond, frizzy haired, freckle infested, glasses wearing girl comes and sits next to me. I prayed to myself that she wouldn't talk to me and ruin my plan, but right as the thought escapes my mind she opens her mouth. Her high pitched giggly voice told me that her name was Sarah Cummings. The two of us kept our distance though, not wanting to seem too eager to make friends. We would just comment on each others drawings every once in a while, just to break any awkward silences. At the end of class Sarah gave me the giraffe she had creatively drawn, one that I might add was the best giraffe I have still to this day ever seen anyone draw at the age of 12,  with a giant smile on my face I thanked her. I never expected that that day was the day I would meet my best friend. To this day I wish I had a picture of that drawing that started our whole friendship.

Digital Photography post 1

I am taking this digital photography class because I find photography to be captivating, as well as moving. I like to see pictures that other people take as well as improve my photography skills. I am a Studio Art major, thinking about Art Education so I am interested in learning about these skills and how to teach them to others.
